Where Have all the Practice Sheets Gone?
As many of you noticed, no practice sheets have gone home since winter break. I was sending 150+ home every week and getting few back. Please make sure your child's name and the date is on all turned in sheets. I prefer they get e-mailed back to ahamilton@tmesnm.com (my new e-mail) to save paper, but you may also print them out if that helps you. If you cannot manipulate the document, just e-mail me the dates you practiced, what you practiced and any questions or concerns.
A good practice should be 5x/week:
5-10 minutes for year 1
10-15 minutes for years 2, 3
15-20 minutes years 4, 5 and 6
It should contain:
~Listening to their recording with overkill listening on their current unit/piece and the next unit/piece coming up
~Practice their newest piece/chunk(NEW)
~Practice the last three finished pieces(POLISH)
~Practice 2-4 review pieces rotating through all of them weekly. Yes they should play everything! Old pieces are a chance for making a good sound and re-enforcing good habits.(REVIEW)
~Focus on one technique point per piece(bow hold, posture, etc.)
As always, I am always open to suggestions on how to adjust these sheets to better suit you and your family. This is a tool to help you keep practice consistent and organized. The school sends home little if any homework, so please make the time. If I saw them everyday for a lesson, they wouldn't have to practice! However, that would require more manpower than is reasonable. Thus, I need your help to keep your child progressing through their music experience at TMES.

PS Monday “Extra Help” sessions- The 1st and 3 rd Monday of the month 4-4:30 or Every Tuesday 3:30-4:30
PS(2) for Parents of 1st, 2nd or 3rd years:
Ms. Alissa and Ms. Canice are offering a second round of Parent Violin Classes for those parents who have yet to participate in this mandatory component of TMES. There are two options for you to choose from; Tuesday or Saturday classes. The following classes are abridged versions of the regular Parent Violin Classes. Please plan on attending if you have not already done so. The schedule is as follows:
Option 1- Tuesday Class from 6:00 - 8:00 pm @ TMES ~ February 10th and February 17 th
Option 2- Saturday Class from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm @ TMES ~ February 21st and February 28th - - - - - - -
