Bio:
My name is John Weber and I am very excited about being the Visual Arts teacher at TMES this year. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico and a Masters in Education from Chaminade University of Honolulu, specializing in the Montessori Cosmic Curriculum. Prior to becoming a member of the TMES family, I was an education assistant at The Cottonwood School for six years both in the early childhood and junior elementary classroom. I was a 6-9 instructor at TMES for the past 4 years. This is my 5th year at TMES. I enjoy creating sculpture and painting, exploring nature, fishing, and golf. I have two wonderful sons who are attending UNM. I look forward to what the new school year will bring.
Montessori Visual Arts:
Human's ability to create something with their hands that they have seen with their imagination, separates them from all other forms of life on the Earth. Expression of ideas and inventions to serve our needs has been a part of Human behavior since they first appeared on our planet.
In History curriculum of the classroom, children learn of the importance of the people who came before them. Cave drawings, pottery, tools, jewelry, architecture, etc; show us a picture of the diversity and cultural development of ancient Humans.
The purpose of the Visual Arts curriculum is to encourage this appreciation and inspire the students to explore their own creative imagination and forms of expression.
