Ms. Karen & Ms. Jenifer's Class Update:

Dear Families,
We hope you enjoyed your long weekend. The students have returned happy to see their friends again and get back to work.
Third year testing is going well. The students completed the sixth of their eleven tests today. The plan now is to complete two tests on Wednesday, two on Thursday and the last on Friday. This may be modified as circumstances require, but we are optimistic that we will return to our regular class set-up early next week. Thank you for being sure that your child is here and rested on test days. We are proud of our students' good spirits and conscientious work. Thanks to Fujie (Anita's mom) for sending extra treats to share. We also had a grandparent from Ms. Lisa's room donate snacks for all 50 third years. If anyone has time and is feeling generous, snacks are greatly appreciated (26 third-year students in our classroom; 50 total).
First and second years have adjusted to the novelty of working in another classroom in the mornings. We have managed to have some lessons in the afternoons when they return to our classroom. Luckily they had already had some experience with the format of working in the mornings and receiving new lessons in the afternoons.
A few reminders: We are still hoping for the return of some more pink helper slips for the golf tournament. The classes with the most points earned will receive prizes. Also, please return the Quality of Education Parent Survey as soon as possible. The students will receive otter pops if 100% are returned (including blanks if you've already completed one for your child in another classroom.)
We will send home the April Scholastic book orders this week. Directions are below.
If National Geographic magazines are sent home in the “return to school” section of your child's folder, please send back the completed worksheets only. The magazines are to keep at home.
We are winding up our vertebrate studies and will soon move on to atoms and molecules, the human body, and land and water forms. We look forward to meeting with all of you later this month. More information on conferences will be coming soon.
