Bio:
Ms. Karen is delighted to return for her sixth year at TMES! In 2008, Ms. Karen received her NM K-8 teacher's license, completed Montessori 6-9 training and certification with NAMC, and graduated from UNM with a Masters in Elementary Education. This Fall, she is completing her 9-12 certification with NMAC. She was Ms. Kari's E.A. student teacher in the 9-12 classroom for two years (2006-2008). This is her fourth year as a head teacher, and she is excited to return to the 9-12 environment.
Ms. Karen is a native of Albuquerque and lives in Los Ranchos with her husband, two dogs, three cats, plus lots of birds, fish, toads and other critters in their yard. One daughter (21) attends college at UNM and teaches tap dancing, and the other (25) lives in Washington State so she can live and work near seals and other marine mammals.
Ms. Karen's undergraduate degree is in Fine Arts. She co-owned an art gallery in downtown Albuquerque during the 1980s. She dances and teaches Argentine Tango, designs bead jewelry, and enjoys reading, photography, and gardening.
