Bio:
It is a great honor to be working with 9-12 year old students at TMES. Although my educational background has been diverse, education has been a theme throughout various positions I have held in the past. I received a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Science from New Mexico State University, and promptly applied and was accepted to the US Peace Corps following graduation. As a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines, I worked on provincial eco-tourism projects which included ecology camps, a rural high school science library, and interpretive signs for a cave site. Following the Peace Corps and my return to New Mexico, I worked for several organizations that were focused on community stewardship, recycling and beautification, again with a heavy education component. Feeling the strong pull to focus my time exclusively on teaching, I went back to school and completed a Masters degree in Education at the University of New Mexico in the summer of 2008. To further my professional experience, I recently completed my 9-12 Montessori training. Of all paths I have traveled, I feel this one resonates with me on the deepest level, and I am thrilled to continue to embark on this journey as a Montessori educator. Perhaps one of the more satisfying aspects of being a Montessori teacher is the process of relearning concepts that were presented to me in a rote, traditional fashion. It is a joy to experience the Montessori method and its effect on blossoming young minds.
Outside of teaching I enjoy working out at the gym and cooking. They fortunately are hobbies that are a perfect match.

Bio:
I am thrilled to have the privilege of doing my student teaching here at TMES! I will be receiving my BA in December 2009 in Elementary Education. When I have acquired my degree, I will take on a position as an EA in the 9-12 community. To be working with the 9-12 staff is a complete joy. I have been a stay at home mom for 6 years prior to coming to TMES. This is an incredible experience to complete my degree at such an amazing school. I have a kindergarten son at TMES and a pre-school daughter who will be attending in one more year. My family is the world to me! I am excited to see what the upcoming year brings!
